Eurobest 2009
29 November, 2009 in Advertising, Hyper Island, Lectures with no comments
Two weeks I got an e-mail from Hyper Island saying that we students here in Amsterdam should do a lecture at Eurobest. And this is what I’ve been occupied with last week. What do people want to know about Hyper Island? How much do they know?
It’s hard to talk about something you know so well and you easily forget about what people don’t know and instead you focus too much on the details.
But we did well and got a lot of good response from the people in the audience. It felt like an adrenaline kick afterwards. Loved it!

The building was HUGE.

Where we had our lecture. Mathias on stage preparing.

And I blame my phone for the bad quality.
North Kingdom is in town
28 May, 2009 in Hyper Island, Lectures with no commentsHenrik Karlsson, former Hyper student and currently Art Director at North Kingdom, had a lecture in school today. He showed us case studies and talked about the do’s and the dont’s in the business which I found very useful.
Key bullets of the DO’s: Stay eager to learn, Be humble (it will pay of in the end), Always describe your role in detail in the projects you’ve been a part when you’ve got them in your portfolio, Try to learn the bascis in every discipline (just so you get the understanding) and Look for inspiration on other places than the internet.
Key bullets of the DONT’s: Don’t underestimate experience (goes along with being humble), Don’t expect to work in the biggest projects directly as an intern and don’t be afraid to ask for feedback (it’s the easiet way of getting new learnings and a great way of keeping a high quality of the work within the agency).
Henrik also showed us North Kingdom’s showreel. It’s not official yet but I but can tell you that the visuals were perfect (of course) and what differs it from a lot of other showreels were the music. Finally a showreel without a horrible blip-blop song!
